Website, Domain and Email Design

When creating my website I wanted to create a website that was simple and clean like the rest of my branding so that the main focus is on my images. There are many different sites I could use to create my website like:

  • Portfolio Box
  • Square Space
  • Format
  • Wix
  • WordPress
  • Zemfolio

I first started off creating my website on square space but when creating it I felt very restricted on the things I could change on the template and was not sure if it was really the look I wanted. I then heard that most of the class was designing there website on Wix and they all seemed to be saying h  ow easy it was to use and that you could basically change the whole template if you wanted because of this I decided to use Wix myself. Though creating the website took over a day and was a lot harder to make than I thought it would be my final result I am very happy with, I think it is exactly how I want it took look for my brand so far, although every time I go on it I find something else to tweak. .I think that this is only natural as you have more ideas as the website develops and want to keep it fresh by adding more images so that the website is perfect.

Here is my first attempt of the website on square space

The only problem with the above website is that I have already brought a domain called

www.laurastobart.com , www.laurastobart.uk and www.laurastobart.co.uk to make sure no one can get a domain name similar to me on Free Virtual Servers, before creating the website this is a problem because to add the domain and website together it is indicating that I would need to make an annual payment fee of £93. I was surprised to find this out as I was very happy with my domain as it is simple and easy to remember and to type in and also happy with my website I have now created and spent a lot of time on and I don’t want to give either of them up. I am going to try and find another way I can connect the two together, because I would need to be sure about this website before making such an investment and I have limited finances at the minute.

As well as creating my Domain and website I have also created an email address. This email address will be the address I will give out for anything I do within photography and my brand this email address will be how everyone will contact me. I spent a lot of time thinking about what my email address should be I came up with the addresses I like:

laurastobart@photograhy.co.uk or .com

photograhy@laurastobart.co.uk or .com

laura@stobartphotograhy.co.uk or .com

stobart@photograhy.co.uk or.com

lstobart@photograhy.co.uk or .com

After looking at all the name I could use and also if they were already active or not. The email address I decided to use was photography@laurastobart.co.uk. I decided to use this email address as my domain is Laura Stobart and I thought it might be a good idea to have photography in my email address as I don’t have it in my domain name.

Overall I am pleased with my website, domain and email address and I think they will all work really well with my branding. I hope I am able to find a way to link both my domain and website together without too much of a cost and if find a way to link the two together I will put the link below.  I hope that soon I will be able to make my website live and connect me email address to it
