Inside Dior Documentary

To celebrate the landmark 70th anniversary, on the 9th of February 2017 Channel 4 had a 2 part documentary giving the audience an exclusive look behind the sense of the Dior fashion house. The first episode looks at: the reopening of Christian Dior’s restored summer house; fashion shows at Blenheim Palace and Paris; the history of Dior; and the people who help make Dior the well known band it is today, It also explores the different create directors such as Christian Dior himself, Bill Gaytten, Raf Simons, Saint Laurent and Marc Bohan and asks who would be the new creative director?

In episode 2 you find out that the new creative director is Maria Grazia Chiuri, the first ever women to be the creative director for Dior. You watch as she prepares herself for her first collection and the process she goes to create her final pieces, then shown at Paris fashion week. You also see some of the work behind the senses of the show.

I really liked this documentary as it gives you an insight into the world of fashion. It’s something I have not seen before and gives you the history of Doir and how it has influenced us on how we all dress today.

looking at the collection Maria Grazia Chiuri created for Paris fashion week, I think it was great and somewhat different to other fashion collections out there. I feel it has a new romantic feel to the clothing. There was one piece of clothing that has the fashion world talking, a t-shirt saying “We should all be feminists” paired with a midnight blue skirt and trainers, it has become the most instagramed moment of the whole show.

Throughout the collection you could see she was keeping to the theme of feminists and the image of female strength with the tailored suits, flowing dresses and flat trainers to go with the dresses. I love this collection and think it is a prefect collection of clothing to start off her career as the creative director of Dior.
